Ilayaraja-A magician in music

As a part of my "Man is my hero" philosophy I have decided to mention a few men whom i feel grateful to experience their presence. First of this long list starts from a man whose work i used to admire since forever.Music is a passion and an expression that touches your heart piercing all the barriers. Long before I knew there would be music directors behind the songs, I used to love his songs and crave for his music. Those were the days of audio cassetes and the sound of his music in the tape recorder would make my day special. Telugu was the first language in which i listened film music. There was this man with his magic wand composing the songs with ease and doing wonders in fusion.

As far as technicality is concerned, i am just a beginner in music(though i remain a beginner since childhood for which i curse myself again and again). But as i see it he uses the ragas situationally and does beautiful experimentations and boy! he does wonders. I grew up and music industry was revolutionized. There came a lot of percussion into the picture dominating the lead. Some ppl feel that music has become louder.

As long as i see it its just a change with time. But still this magician comes time and again to prove that melody remains forever.(If you want to feel the power of melody just listen to his music in Paa,
Cheenikum ,Shiva etc) This man is awesome with his melody. Some songs are his old tunes made in new flavor and this is a great news for die hard fans like me.

When you listen to chennai music fans you often face this ever lasting battle
 "Ilayaraja Vs A.R.Rahman".
Some of you from north india may wonder what the fuss is all about. But guys yes this is a great debate down south. A.R.Rahman is a big name in north india and as you go down south  you will be surprised to see the amount of passion people have with ilayaraja's music.(As you must by now be aware that I am one of them)

About the comparison  well both have different approaches towards game. Ilayaraja is spontaneous where as ARR is hard working. Ilayaraja is like sachin and ARR is like dravid. But if you ask me to choose one of them then it would be always ilayaraja(i love sachin too). Ilayaraja's background work is fantastic and ARR is only one who comes nearer to him in this aspect. He does put life into a scene with his background and he is director's delight.

I pity those guys who listen to indian music and who do not know this great man. Just google about him and there are crazier fans than me and you will find a lot about this Isaignani(gyani of music in tamil). I dont know tamil but i love raja's work. He is a guru for lot of young musicians and for me he is God of music in south indian film industry(in which a miracle called A.R.Rahman was also born).
